The Brea July 4th Country Fair promises to be a highlight of the community events calendar in 2017.
Memorial Day has come and gone, but you don’t have to feel sad that you’ve packed up the grill and thrown your swim trunks in the wash. Before you know it, the city of Brea will be holding one of the biggest Fourth of July celebrations in Orange County, and everyone who lives in Brea homes will have the opportunity to party, enjoy delicious food and reforge their bonds with fellow community members.
To get you excited about this year’s July 4th Country Fair, here are all the activities you and your family can enjoy:
Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast
The Brea Kiwanis always set out an amazing spread starting at 7 a.m. so you can kick off your day right. The Kiawnis Club busts out all the intense gear, mixing the gallons of batter needed for 700 or more hungry guests in five-gallon buckets and using a clean cement mixer attachment. You can also enjoy bacon, juice and coffee.
Kiddie Parade & Most Beautiful BowWow Contest
Around 10a.m., everyone assembles at the gazebo in City Hall Park for the cutest display of patriotism you have ever seen. Cherub-faced kids and adorable pooches sport their most adorable red, white and blue outfits possible, and the four-legged participants are then judged to award the most precious of all the pups.
Classic & Custom Car Show
See vintage, restored and kit cars on display, honoring the best in American metal since the first Model-T rolled off a Detroit assembly line. Models of all eras are on display, including classic modified Model-As, fin-sporting 50s Corvettes, 60s era muscle cars and more.
The event is hosted by the Brea Historical Society, and proceeds benefit the Brea Museum & Heritage Center.
Games, Rides, Bouncy Houses and More
Kids of all ages and the young at heart can enjoy inflatable slides, bouncy houses, rides, contests, carnival games and much more. Separate areas for little kids and teens also ensure that everyone is smiling no matter how old they are.
Adults can enjoy the fine crafts booths, featuring hometown artists, locals and travelling vendors selling a variety of gifts, home goods and other exciting wares.
Pie Eating Contest
It’s a Fourth of July tradition! Watch Brea’s finest plunge their faces into delicious pies, with proceeds benefiting the Brea Lions Club.
Past performers included country musicians, folk, bluegrass, rock, salsa and a variety of others. Every year also sees the return of “House Party,” which blasts Top 40 Hits that everyone will recognize.
Take a Plunge
Swimming at the Plunge starts at 11 a.m., and admission is just $2 for everyone.
